Commenting on Bernard Meyer’s success, Seatrade managing director, Chris Hayman, pointed out that the German shipbuilding group had built 21 cruise ships for customers worldwide, as well as river cruise ships at its sister yard, Neptun Stahlbau in Rostock. Earlier this year, Meyer Werft handed over the AIDAdiva to AIDA Cruises, the first of four Sphinz-class ships incorporating a range of Fidelio Cruise software systems. And the shipbuilder’s orderbook comprises ten more cruise vessels for AIDA, NCL, Celebrity and Disney, most of which will be equipped with Fidelio Cruise IT systems.
More than 800 delegates and exhibitors attended the ceremony, hosted by Hamburg Cruise Centre and AIDA Cruises. It was held on the first night of this year’s Seatrade Europe Cruise, Ferry and Rivercruise Convention, staged in co-operation with Hamburg Messe and Congress.
Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Mary Bond, Editor of Seatrade Cruise Review and Seatrade Insider said: “Leading the way, as they do, in cruise information technology and with headquarters in Hamburg, it was most fitting that Fidelio Cruise sponsored these inaugural awards. We were delighted with their support and the interest that the scheme has generated all around the world.”
