Cruise operators to accommodate last-minute bookings thanks to Fidelio Cruise’s ResOnline system - Friday, April 11, 2008

The FC ResOnline system has been designed specifically to facilitate automatic data transfer from shore-side reservation systems to onboard users up to a short time before sailing.

“The ability to sell tickets and update passenger information close to the time of sailing is a key objective of many cruise lines,” says Fidelio Cruise President Tony Heuer, “and our new ResOnline software does just that. Now operators can continue to sell cruises and onboard services right up to few minutes before their ship sails.”

Spot-checks and process inventories at quay-side trough Fidelio Cruise’s MMSMobile

Fidelio Cruise’s Materials Management System (MMS) will have its functionality significantly enhanced with the introduction of hand-held mobile inventory control devices. The new MMSMobile units, which will operate remotely on the quay side, in main stores and at points of consumption on board, will improve the flexibility and efficiency of stock control and inventory management.

The new system will enable stock controllers to create a mobile inventory either by scanning or manually entering a product, together with product count. The inventory can then be uploaded via the web service to the principal MMS database. Synchronisation of handheld units with the main database can be initiated by personnel once they are within range of a wireless network, or automatically when the mobile units are placed in their docking cradles.

The extra functionality should make effective stock control much simpler. Barcodes can be read and the information automatically synchronised. In the “View” field, users can see what products have arrived and what is still expected, as well as a complete list of vendors and suppliers, with relevant contact information. A ship’s itinerary is also available, enabling staff to arrange alternative delivery ports from the quay-side if necessary.

The new hand-held units will enable provision masters to complete their main-store inventories and bar managers to undertake their own stock control. And, with just a few clicks, both sets of data can be made available in the period-end inventory.
